Women Connect 2012

My wonderful blog designer Becky who blogs at From Mrs to Mama is having a get together over in her area of the blogosphere..and I am super excited about it!

It's called Women Connect 2012!
A place where women can find each other, connect and get inspired!

Let's face it..Women are relational emotional creatures. We need each other. To vent, To gossip, To cry, To whine, To rejoice, To pray, To seek advice, To dress up, To go to the bathroom..LOL! We need each other!!

This is a great opportunity for all women alike to join up in this linky and get to know other women who are in your similar situation ... or meet someone totally different from your situation!

All you have to do is write up a post about you and head on over to From Mrs to Mama and link up!

Now.. I have to write up a post about myself...isn't that the age old interview question that you Despise! So..Tell me about yourself.
What do you say?
Where do you start?
Do you want all the details or the short version?

I think this question is one of the hardest to answer..about yourself...so stick with me and I'm going to try my best!

I am Nikki..used to be Turner...now I'm a Brewer. I have been a Brewer for five years now!! Best five years of my life..everyone says that..but I mean it. I love my husband...he is the best...for me!

We were married in September and in December I called him while he out in the woods hunting to tell him we were going to be a family...the next August...Miss Lyla Faye entered our world and made us the happiest parents on the planet! She is four now with an adult sarcastic attitude and honestly thinks she is destined to be a princess...Hey..a girl can dream right! I am still waiting for the day my father tells me that I was adopted and I am a lost princess of another nation...one day...One day ....it might happen.

See..the attitude I was talking about!
I'm not playing around here.....she is four going on twenty four

Along with Lyla..we also have two dogs..Our big Great Dane, Nala, and our little chihuahua, Daisy Jo..

I have an inhome preschool and consider myself blessed to be able to do that as a job! I get to stay home with my baby girl and we have friends come over to play and learn! I love it!
Absolutely love it!
I am starting college in 2013 to finish up my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
My husband is in the Air Force National Guard and I couldn't be prouder of him. I thank God he chose not to do active duty..I am not very good with change or traveling.
I am a complete Daddy's girl and I adore my little brother..family means alot to me. I proudly proclaim that I am a Christian..and totally addicted to Dr Pepper. I love my little town here in Arkansas..yes we wear shoes here.. I love to read, organize and try to scrapbook...I take way to many pictures...but mostly my day is spent doing dishes and laundry while cleaning up the mess that "no one" makes!
I love my life right now and I can not wait to see what God has in store for me next!

I originally started blogging when I found out I was pregnant with Lyla..I thought it would be a great way to keep memories ...but I quickly found out that blogging took to much of time away from her..especially with me working outside the home at that time. I don't post alot of mommy stuff here on the blog Lyla because I like the handwritten approach. I love to see my grandmother's handwriting and I want Lyla to be able to have mine when I am gone. What keeps me blogging are things like these...connecting...the community. I have gotten so many ideas and so much inspiration for crafts or even getting over bad days from reading blogs.

Thanks Becky for linking us up!

Show and Tell: Careers

The wonderful lady...Becky @ From Mrs to Mama.... who did my bloggy makeover has her own linky on Mondays called Show and Tell. Each Monday she picks a topic to share about just to get to know each other a little better..This week is about your career..I find careers interesting and I want to support Becky so I decided to link up this week and will try to every Monday ....

This Weeks Questions: Careers/Your "Job"

1. Tell us what you studied in college. Is your job now related to what you studied?
In college I studied Pre Elementary Education and since I am a preschool teacher now..I would say it relates. Did the material I studied relate to what I am actually doing? Not at all. I don't think anything prepares you for a classroom full of youngin's except just jumping and seeing how it goes.

2. Tell us what your everyday job looks like.
My everyday job now is so awesome!! I am so blessed!! Right now I have my own inhome preschool. So my first kiddo gets here about 6am..so I am up about that time and he falls back to sleep..so I lay on the couch and watch the news or play on my iPhone. The next two kiddos show up anywhere between 8-9am..by that time usually Lyla is waking up. I let them play for a while with each other then we come into my office and do some school work. We play outside. They watch a TV show while I fix lunch. After lunch is nap. After nap they play until mom or dad comes to get them. Once all the kiddos leave me and Lyla relax..fix supper...bath and bedtime. With of course some fun and extras in there ..but that the general day.

3. Do you have a picture of you at work? Show us

I don't have a picture of me at work ...with what I do now..because I am always taking pictures of the kids. I have worked in a few preschools...all of which I have seen the "behind the scenes" and I would never leave my child there without me working there. So here is a picture of me at an old work place:

4. In 10 years, what do you see yourself doing? Same thing? More? Tell us.

In ten years I hope to have finished my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education..and hopefully finished my Masters...and beginning to further my education. I would love to be teaching in our local public school system ...if I don't find a building and raise enough money to open my own preschool.

5. Tell us what you have learned, and what {if any} recommendations you may have for those looking to go into the field you are in.

What I've learned? I've learned that children are just like adults..they have feelings and emotions...and blame themselves for things. I've learned to be patient with my own daughter and no matter how many times I have heard the same story I will listen attentively because it is important to her...and if I listen now..she will feel more comfortable telling me stories when she's older. I've learned to parent...I've learned to love even when it's hard....I've learned that it is ok to need a break...This career has taught me so much and has made me such a better person. My one and only reccommendation for anyone wanting to go into Early Childhood is do it FOR the kids. You have to love kids. You might be the one and only smile they see all day..Be that. It doesn't pay good...but nothing can compare to a little one I taught four years later screaming my name across Wal Mart and running to give me a hug.

Next Weeks Questions: Cold Weather Activities
1. Tell us what you like to do when it's cold outside.
2. Tell us some of your favorite "winter" recipes.
3. Show a picture of something that makes you think of the cold.
4. Tell us /show us some of your favorite accessories/outfits for the winter
5. Tell us if you had the option of snow or no snow, what would you pick?

5 min Friday: Change

This is my first five minute friday.

I have read a few here and there....

So I thought I would give it a try....

All you do is set your timer, clear your head, for five minutes of free writing without worrying about getting it right.

Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
Click the picture to go to Lisa Jo's blog...Her blog is where the linky is and where it all starts!

Change.

Start-

When i think of change I can't help but think of the Republic National Convention I have been watching lately.

I don't really keep up with all the political stuff like I should and I know it should...it just seems like there is so much drama and other related stuff that doesn't matter to our country. I don't care if Bush had a beer when he was 23...can he run our country?

Could I?
No way!

I wouldn't want that responsibility...but I thank God that there are people that do!!

Now for the change...something in our country needs to change....well not some THING..but alot of things...and I hope in November we get that change.

I can say that I did not vote for Obama last election but I respect any man who is brave enough to put himself in the President seat and take the heat.

So my way of change is actually watching our candidates...i encourage everyone to...and VOTE! It is getting close...We all need to make an educated decision....

There are more people that vote for the next American Idol than there are for our next US President.
That is one change that needs to happen.

Stop-

30 days of Truth

I know ..your probably thinking...what? What is this girl doing?
But give me a minute..
Has anyone ever told you something about yourself that really ticked you off and made you mad..but it was .........................true.?
That happened to me this weekend. Gregg and I were having one of our "discussions" when I realized that the reason I can never keep up with all our laundry is because when I get dressed in the mornings I put something on..don't like it..so I throw it down...then it ends up in the dirty clothes...which in turn has me griping about much laundry there is all the time and wondering how it always happens...
Well Gregg finally told me...it is because of me. And I can't argue..because it is...
I can explain though.........   hee hee
When I put something on ..I don't like it...I throw it down and in my mind I am thinking I am going to put it to the side because one of these days within the next 3 years
I AM GOING TO HAVE A YARD SALE!!!
Ha!
Yea right!
 Anyway on to my post...
Over at Angel Believes she is doing a thing on her blog called 30 days of Truth. It is hard to be truthful with yourself...so everyday for the next 30 days I am going to honestly answer a question about me.
