bringing faith to life

I have a confession.

When I wake up in the morning one of the first things I do is look at my iPhone.
Love me or Hate me...that's what I do.
No apologies!

I usually look at the news app and weather app to "prepare" for my day. Then I go to my Feedler app to read any new blog posts.

Well this morning I came across Kelly's blog post about this link up called "Build 'em Up"
I am not really into the Fashion Friday or Menu Monday linkys ....not because they are bad...but because I have no fashion and I don't make a menu...so there isn't much out there for me...

Until I came across this.
If there is one thing that I can link up about in a discussion ..it is my faith.

I love having those very tense religious discussions...only I don't feel tense because I'm not trying to "win" anyone over to my side..and I really take an interest in what others believe. I mean who's to say that either one of us is 100% right?

I believe that this is the first edition of this linky and the "theme" is
 Bringing Faith to Life

How do I bring my faith to life?

I have been thinking on this for a while now which reminds me that I love how God works in my life. I usually have a topic just fluttering in my head and then one day when I sit down to read or play on the computer that topic is all over the place.

Lately that topic is being the wife, mother....Woman..that God wants me to be. The woman that I want to be an example for my daughter.

Earlier this year I wrote a post about finding me in 2013
I had realized that before my husband left for Basic Training..that I was making so many excuses not to clean or do laundry...I just wanted to rest.
Is that the woman that I want my daughter to become?
Absolutely not!

Once my husband was gone...I loved finding his random shirts in the laundry to fold and put away. I was happy to do it. I missed cooking big meals for all of us to eat.
All thing things I wanted rest from..I missed.

Yesterday I was stalking Courtney's new blog and watching all her videos that she posted when I came across her Proverbs 31 bible study. I had known for a while that she had that on her blog and on every email when you subscribe to her blog..but I just ignored it.

I didn't really want to be a Proverbs 31 Woman..it looked exhausting.and I didn't have the energy for it.

How humbling is this? How pathetic was I? Oh my word!

I don't want my daughter to see me hating folding her clothes, dreading cooking dinner, putting off mopping the floors.

I want my daughter to see me take pride in our home, lovingly fold my husband's clothes, have her help me make dinner...
I want her to know that being a mother and taking care of your home is an important job...a prideful job...a respectable job!

This video was my "awakening"

So I downloaded Courtney's bible study on the Proverbs 31 woman.. rounded up a few women and we are doing a 14 week bible study on this woman! And I am overjoyed!

So to bring my faith to life is to LIVE MY FAITH

Live my role that God set out for me.
I am so excited to step into that role and get started!!!

Upcoming Bible Study: Advent-Keeping our hearts focused on Jesus

About 8 weeks ago I started a Bible Study with the Good Morning Girls. We took the book of Colossians and dissected it verse by verse. I made a small group of women on Facebook where we can go and share our thoughts along with gaining a tremendous amount of insight reading others thoughts! I honestly didn't think I would make it through the whole 8 weeks....but I did! I think a great reason for that is because of our accountability in our Facebook Group. I have grown to love those girls and feel like I know them all personally!

I’m so excited about the upcoming Bible Study on GoodMorningGirls.org !
It’s a 4 week Advent Study – Keeping Our Hearts Focused on Jesus,

Colossians Bible Study Day 1

I'm super excited to get started with the Good Morning Girls on reading Colossians!!

I love picking a part of the Bible and just digging in.

I was reading Job and was so inspired. I wondered if I had gone through what all he did..if I would have had the same faith as he did.

Now let's dig into Colossians..this is a book in the Bible that I actually haven't spent alot of time in..so I am ready!
I have started a Facebook group for this study and had quite a few friend ask to join..Yay! If you come along and find this interesting...please feel free to message me or leave me a comment and I will add you to our group!!

The study will start today. We will take just a few verses and a few minutes out of your day to spend time with God. Just one on one time with God. I have to admit sometimes I find myself to busy to sit and spend time with God.
Seriously?
To busy for God?

How could someone ever say that? But I do. I have an inhome preschool, dishes, laundry, bills, papers that need organized....etc.

But this is a way to have people that love you hold you accountable ...because we all know that you can not grow a relationship without time spent with each other.

I will be using the SOAP method....which is what the Good Morning Girls are using. I also have never used this method..so we will see how it works for me. You use whatever method you like. I am a writer. I have to write things down. If you just want to read and reflect. Do that. All I ask is that you come back here or to our facebook group and let us know you read the passage. And maybe how you plan to apply it to your life and what observations you had.

Today we are reading Colossians 1:1-4
S...Scripture.....
I have gotten myself a notebook and written down my passage for the day...
which do you know is in the Bible? I didn't know that. See..already learning something.

Jeremiah 30:2 "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.

O...Observation....
A few things that jumped out at me from this passage is the word apostle.
Apostle means messenger.
Aren't we all messengers? Even if we don't have profound words..all we need is "Jesus Loves You" Maybe somebody needs to hear just that today.
by the will of God
that phrase just brings joy to my heart. Life is so much easier knowing that you are in the will of God. If you have prayed before making a decision and have seen God's answer for you..not matter what it is you can have no fear if it is in the will of God. He has it under control!
holy and faithful brothers in Christ
brothers in Christ. I have been going through a time where family doesn't seem much like family...or my definition of family anyway. I am thankful that we have brothers and sisters in Christ ... we are family.
we always thank God ..when we pray for you
How SWEET!! What a compliment! I thanked God for you today! I pray for people all the time. I pray for their souls..their situations...God's healing and direction in their lives...but I have to say that I have never prayed for thankfulness for them..just them...as a person..living on God's earth.
Hmmmm ...first day of reading..first passage of reading...and already an insight and a AHA moment!
Yay!

A..Application
I have already mentioned a few above..but I plan on being more of a messenger in God's will. Even if it is a simple "Jesus Loves You" ....maybe a card to say "I'm thinking of you"....
I am a mother, wife, sister, teacher and friend by the will of God..and I plan on doing those jobs that God has given me to the BEST of my ability! and yes...that means laundry! ugh!
When I pray for someone..for their situation ...I want to remember to thank God for THEM...for making them..putting them in my path to give me the opportunity to pray for them and watch God's miracles.

P...Pray...

There is the SOAP method!! Not bad! I like it!

I am already feeling so inspired and so fulfilling by just reading four little verses!! Who would have thought that FOUR verses could make you think so much!

I don’t know what God will do personally in your life but I do know that if we come to his word faithfully we are going to be filled with living water…we will LIVE WELL!!

He will speak to you personally. About your life..your dark areas..your soul..your trials…along with mine..and I am excited!!

Come to his word with expectancy!!

No doubt we will gain spiritual wisdom and understanding...and who knows what else God has in store!

I do hope that you will join us and discuss what you got out of these four verses.
Here is the link to our Facebook Group..I will gladly add you!

We are the Body ..Week 3

This is week number 3 in doing our Bible Study on how we are a part of the Body of Christ.

Today we talked about how we get in situations where we are so fed up that we just DONE..and we are ready to check out!

I know I have been there...more than once! and I know that there will be more occasions where I will want to check out....but I won't...because whatever situation I am in..God put me there for a reason...so i will hold on to his Name and get through it with the strength of God.

Whatever door God puts in front of me...I am not only going to walk right through it..I am going to run..with everything I have because I know that whatever is on the other side of that door is straight from the presence of God. Who wouldn't want to see that...to feel that???

We had an awesome sermon from a preacher Sunday night that preached about God opening a door for you...and to go through it.
But we have to remember...God can open those doors that no man can shut...not even the Devil...yes...even Satan can not shut the door that God has open...but God can shut it. So don't waste your time...don't waste the blessings he is willing to give to you...he is stretching his hand down as far as he can ...all you have to do is pray and grab a hold!

God, I pray that when you open a door for me..that I know it is you...and that I run with all my might to wherever you want me to go and do whatever it is that you want me to do. Praise be to you!

.....ok so i kinda got off the subject...

I'm back...

This week we are to remember that if can't be with the one we love...Jesus....to love the one's we are with....your husband, your children, your nieghbor, the lady at the grocery store..everyone.

We are to make a list of the people that we are closest to and make a list beside each one on ways to show them that we love them.....

That will be what I do before I go to bed tonight...but I am thinking maybe some "thinking about you" scrappy cards!!!

Feel Free to join in the Bible study....we have quite a few more weeks to go!
It is over At the Well...join in!
