Day 19: Where I slept

Hmm..this could be tricky because Lyla has had this crazy kinda sinus drainage cough here lately ...so of course her comfortability is way more important than mine....along with her sleep....and her favorite kind of toothpaste....what SHE wants for dinner...get my drift?

Day 20: What I read...

This a funny story...that is going to need an explanation...

Every year my church has a Women's Conference...and I absolutely love going...I have never in my life felt such a tremendous move of God as when I am there in our tabernacle....I have never seen such a glorious sight as hundreds of women praising God and praying for each other's families...

I love it!

Last year there was a speaker named Rachel..who was hilarious!! She said every woman needs the book called "Sheet Music"

Out in the entry way of our tabernacle is kinda like a book fair...a whole bunch of books, bibles, CD's all that on sale...

Rachel said that specific book wasn't out there...but we could order it...and if we ordered today then she would pay shipping for us...because WE HAD to read this book.

So I thought what the heck..I had just finished the book I was reading...so I went out to order it after service..

probably something about how women relate to music emotionally...or women's emotions...or how to control them...blah blah....

BOY WAS I WRONG!!!

When I got home from work one day I was so super excited to see the package at the door waiting for me!! Like a kid at Christmas I ran inside and ripped open the package to find this:

"Uncovering the Secrets of Sexual Intimacy in Marriage"

What?

Seriously?

I was shocked..but laughed...and laughed and laughed..

One...because I bought a sex book at my church's women's conference....

Two...because I was fixing to read it! ha!

Come to find out...

This is the most hilarious book I think I have ever read!

And to be honest...I have completely enjoyed it!!

I am only on Chapter 3....

but so far it is this therapist....telling us how men and women think about sex.

How differently we both view it...

If I have the time...later...I am going to skim back through some of the pages and highlights some of the greatest passages I have read...and update you guys!!

Some things I have read have made me scream at Gregg across the house...and say "Babe..come here...you HAVE to read this!!"

Don't make fun of me and sex book...

You might be asking me for tips one day!!

ha ha!!

2011 photo challenge catch up and injury update

I know..I have been missing in action for a while now from my blog..

but I do have a few little reasons...

1. School is starting Monday so I have been preparing my classroom...and lesson plans...and newsletters...etc

2. While I was cleaning my classroom...I severely twisted my ankle...it hurt....bad.....I mean bad! Today is black and blue and scary looking.

3. Lyla has a off and on fever....don't know why

4. Gregg has been having major migraines.....don't know why

If it is one thing..it is all things!!

I think God is punishing me because our pastor told us to fast this week one meal and pray about the decisions he has to make for our new church building and I completely forgot to fast my lunch on Monday...sorry God! sorry Brother Myers!

So I have to catch up on all my photo challenges.....I stopped at Day 13

Day 14 is Flowers. Ha! With all this heat...there is no flowers...None!
So this is what I am going with...

These are flowers Gregg got me for Mother's Day. I love wildflowers!!

Day 15 brought us....My Shoes!

My kind of shoes are flip flops. I do love wearing heels...but I am a preschool teacher...so heels usually only happen on Sundays for church...now that my ankle looks like an elephant foot...heels are out of the picture!

Day 16 is What I ate...This is my dinner...because like I said earlier ..we are fasting one meal this week..and I decided to fast lunch...because that is the one meal I look forward to...we sit at the table during nap and eat and talk (and of course watch kids!) 

Day 17 is on the shelf...I could have taken a picture of a shelf at my house...because I have a shelf that I love...my husband made it for me..and it holds precious pictures on it...but THIS shelf at the Dollar Store hold precious cupcake decor that I would love to have in my kitchen!!!

I will have to upload the rest of pictures off of my Iphone...I will catch up!! Promise!

Today was Open House at the preschool I work at. I was a little worried because it was on a Sunday...and that is a strictly lazy day for me...I usually don't do anything on Sundays but church and nap! and eat!

But I was pleasantly suprised when I had all but four of my 12 parents show up to meet me today! I enjoyed meeting everyone. Sometimes with the hours I work..I miss parents in the mornings and in the evenings...so today could quite possibly be the only day I see them until graduation! Crazy huh?

I had alot of my students from last year come visit me...I LOVED that! It might sound crazy...but you miss them little monkeys....they do become your own ...you love them..take care of them...want them to be happy and healthy and make friends...

I'm so excited to start the new school year...excited to meet all my students and see what this year has in store for me...excited to see how my students last year adjust to the big kid classrooms...the start of a new school year is like the start of a brand new year...everything is painted and cleaned ...smells nice...I love it!





2011 photo challenge - Day 13

Today's photo challenge is In the Distance...

I like this one..because I love taking pictures through my windshield...on the way to work...(at a stoplight or something...or yes..I will even pull off the road to snap a picture if I see something picture worthy!)

this is on the way to my dads house...where I lived ALL my life...

and as a child and teenager...I never really SEEN how beautiful that mountain is in the background

I always took it for granted because I seen it every time I came home

Now that I don't see it everyday..it is one of the things I look forward to when I go see my dad

and you can see the crack in Gregg's windshield...ha ha

Yesterday reading a blog about crocheting...I remembered I used to have fun doing that!! Eventhough I only know one stitch...

but I think the most fun I have...when I get time to have fun...

is Fishing!

I love to fish.

I remember my dad and I going fishing all the time when I was little. We would go camping and I couldn't wait to get the tent set up so we could finally go catch some fish.

I can bait my own hook...I like to use minnows or worms...but i don't like taking the fish off the hook when i catch it.

and I don't like to eat fish

I just like to catch them..ha ha

I like talking while fishing....I like the nature...I like being outside hearing the outside sounds....I like the joy of catching a fish...

and not to long ago I got to take Lyla fishing.

She loved it! I was so excited!! She mostly played with the minnows...but she had fun!

My little brother LOVES to fish...so it is a great way to spend some bonding time with my family!

It was an awesome party and we all had a good time...

2011 photo challenge - Day 6

First of all I want to thank everyone that has come over to visit my blog and look at my challenge pictures!!
It has been a pleasure hearing from all of you and seeing your pictures in return.

Today is Day 6 of the challenge...and today we were supposed to take a picture of a Childhood Memory

I have alot of childhood memories.
I don't think I know alot of people that can say they had a "perfect" childhood...in fact I don't know anyone that could say that.

It's took me a while..but I think as I have grown up ..you realize your parents aren't super heros...they are human and they have feelings...I remember never thinking that.

I solely believe the one thing that completely changed my childhood...was my Grandma's death.

It hurt my mom to her core...understandably.
It hurt my dad ..because my dad's mom died when he was a baby....so my Grandma stepped right into that role when my mom and dad married.

It rocked the whole entire family...she was the glue that held us all together I guess.
Because now..we don't do family gatherings...no Christmas's or Thanksgiving's ...it hurts.

It hurts me
It hurts my daughter
It hurts my future children
It hurts all of us that used to sit at "the kids table"

As an adult I realize how much of an inspiration that my grandmother is to me.

I promise to be the glue to my family
I swear that if something happens to me and my family splits..I will literally come back from my grave and make them pay for it!

Fights happen in families...people get feelings hurt....you might not always agree....
but you LOVE each other
you apologize
talk
work it out

BE A FAMILY!

So I have to say for this challenge...

one of my childhood memories ...is holidays at Grandma's house

-having to go "in the other room" and play with our toys so the adults could open thier presents
-having my Grandma make all of us girls our own Christmas dresses
-seeing my dad always stand by the deep freeze to big meals "so it would settle evenly thoughout his body"
-eating homemade ice cream
-wrestling with uncles
-playing with cousins

being a family

oh..how  I miss that

Here is a picture of one of the dresses my Grandma made me for Christmas:

at the moment I don't even remember what year this was...

but I remember that it was taken in my Uncle Pete's bedroom

My favorite place in all of my Grandma's house.

I cry as I sit here and remember how much fun my Uncle Pete and I used to have together...how my mom used to have to be at work so early in the morning that she would take me to my Grandma's house and I would crawl in bed with my Uncle Pete and fall right back to sleep until it was time to get up to go to school and him go to work.

Even when I see him now...there is no time missed...it's like we see each other everyday

That's family

That's everlasting

But I wish I seen him more



2011 photo challenge - day 5

Day 5

The challenge is to take a picture of someone you love... That's not a very hard challenge.
The hard part is picking the picture. I have so many to choose from.

I honestly don't know what I would do without my little family. Lyla is the light of my life... And Gregg helps me keep my light shining when I just want to sit and cry.

One man though ... That has always been on the top my list is my little brother Colton. He is my heartbeat. There is nothing I wouldn't do for that boy.

He is at the point now where he is old enough to hang with friends.. Have girlfriends... And act like a man ... It worries me to have him out in this world... I pray he makes good decisions... I pray that god keeps his hand on him and not let these wordly desires find a home in his heart.

2011 photo challenge - Day 3 & 4

More of the photo challenge...

Yesterday put me a little behind...we had some family business to take care...and my part was watching a cute chunky monkey of a nephew for a few hours!!
I got the good part!!!

The challenge was to take a picture of the clouds...I did..I just didnt' get to blog it...

There wasn't very many clouds yesterday since we broke the record of HEAT at a whopping 115 degrees!!!

Now that is HOTT!!

Let me give you a few little facts about how hot 115 degrees just really is:

This is a fantastic Facebook post from my Uncle Jack

Chocolate burns at 115 degrees.
Science tells us that the protein in egg yolk coagulates in 115 degrees.
115-120 degrees is considered rare for a steak.
At 115, fat starts to melt off meat -- if we stand outside long enough, will fat literally melt off our bodies?

You gotta love his way of thinking..
I don't think I have lost any weight in this heat..I sit in the AC snacking on Cool Ranch Doritos...
Thanking God for my AC and my hubby for working so I can keep it a cool 80 degrees in this house (yes 80 degrees is cool when is 115 outside!)

....................................so I had a whole blog post typed up and went to go publish it ...and for some reason it didnt' publish ...and it all deleted....great! .... so I am having to type it all up again...and it isnt' going to be near as cute as the first draft..sorry guys..............................................

Anyway here is my picture of the clouds...

and here is a picture of our weather I took from my Iphone...I must have caught it at around midnight because it had gone down one degree to 114!! yay!!

Time to break out the light jackets...

and oh look

We were supposed to have a storm today that dropped it to only 111 degrees!!!

woohoo!!!

OK...I gotta stop griping before I have to stop and pray for forgiveness

Day 4 brought on the challenge of your favorite color...easy right?

nope!

I like color combos...I don't think I could pick one stand alone favorite color....

until..

I though...I will go to my Pinterest boards and see what I have pinned and obviously I will find my favorite color

Pinterest is good for SO many things!

Here's what I came up with:

So I am guessing my favorite color right now is gray.

sad ..isnt' it? gray

but that's what I like I guess...

it's a neutral and it goes with everything

But I am really loving this new Cerise color..especially paired with this aqua...I like aqua too!!

2011 photo challenge - Day 2

Today's challenge is taking a picture of "What I Wore" today....

Days like this I wish I could work at an office...behind a desk...in the air conditioning....
That way I would be able to wake up in the morning...dress up, fix my hair, put on nice clothes and heels...and feel good!
I love my job...don't get me wrong...I love working with kids...my job is so much fun...
but sometimes you wonder....what if?

Just human nature I guess.....

2011 photo challenge- Day 1

Here it is...

Day 1

Today's challenge is to take a self portrait.....
I tried this many times while on vacation because I had the feeling that if I didn't take a picture of ME...then there wouldn't be a picture of ME in any of our vacation photos...and I don't know how all these girls on facebook take pictures of themselves because I either cut my head off in the picture, completely don't even take a picture of myself, or look horrendous!!!

So today is really a challenge for me...but here is what I came up with....

This is the self portrait I took of me and Ms Lyla at the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom while we were having dinner with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

2011 photo challenge

As I was pinning....while I should have been cleaning.....I came across a lovely little blog called Oh So Lovely

The author Sherry is teaming up with one of her friends and having a photo challenge in the month of August.
